Page 12 THE MALDEN ADVOCATE–Friday, March 7, 2025 Tornado Boys bow to Somerville in their final home game For the visitors the win kept alive their remarkable tourney drive By Steve Freker O ne of the top stories coming out of Greater Boston League (GBL) Boys Basketball this season was the remarkable turnaround and eventual MIAA State Tournament run by the Somerville High Highlanders. Somerville started out a lowly 1-7 and ended up going an impressive 9-3 thereafter, including 4 straight wins to close out the season, including a 60-34 victory over Malden in the Golden Tornado squad’s final home game of the season at Finn Gym. Malden started all four of its seniors that night, and the quartet held the fort early, building a 10-9 at one point in the first quarter.
