The nine-member Commission is comprised of volunteers who operate under the mandates of M.G.L. Chapter 40, Section 8J, and its core mission is to eliminate discrimination against persons of differing abilities. The Commission provides information, education, referrals, guidance and technical assistance to public and private agencies, individuals, organizations and institutions to ensure that all people have equal access to facilities, services and programs. Per City ordinance, the new member must be an individual with a disability.
