Romero City Planner January 10 & 17, 2020 EVERETT rently finishing up his 30th year in the St. Johns County School District in St. Augustine, Florida, teaching – eventually becoming a principal. His past 11 years have been spent as the Senior Director of School Services for the School District. Paul calls St. Augustine, Fla., home these days, but you cannot take the Malden boy out of him (even if it’s 80 degrees and sunny all the time)! In my last column he read my “get well” wishes to MHS OBITUARIES | FROM PAGE 11 Robert L. Henry A longtime resident of Malden passed away on Wednesday Jan 1, in Tewksbury after a lengthy illness. Robert was born in Malden in 1931, the son of Richard “Leonard” and Brigetta (O’Malley) Henry. He was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1948. He soon enlisted in the Have a Happy & Prosperous New Year! Athletic Hall of Famer Shawn Brickman and reached out to see how Shawn was getting along: “Enjoyed the Musings article today!! Saw you threw out a get well to Shawn Brickman, hope all is okay? Super grateful got to play my senior year at MHS for him! Great story, he may remember. Played a game in Somerville, believe we lost, I was ‘ticked off’ after the game and raised my voice to my folks over something when walking to the car (of course my dad jumped my butt for being a smart aleck). That said, about an hour after the game I get a knock on my door and it was Shawn. Came to my house not to speak to me about baseball or the loss but to make sure I better never be disrespectful to my folks. No matter how competitive I am, win or lose, they come first he says. Class Act!!!” Thanks for sharing, Paul. Peter Levine is a long-time Maldonian and can be reached at PeteL39@aol.com. US Air Force, serving honorably for 4 years during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Malden area. In 1956, he married his sweetheart, Anne Cusick, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. They shared nearly 40 years of marriage together until Annes passing in 1995. Over the years, Robert had worked as a meat cutter, the First National Grocery Stores, and later at Roche Brothers Supermarkets, retiring in 1996. Robert was longtime member of the Irish American in Malden, an avid golfer, and was a passionate New England Patriots fan. He is survived by his children, Kevin H. Henry of Malden, Robert C. Henry and wife Wendy of Tewksbury, and Gary M. Henry of Lynnfield, and his grandchildren, Christine, Erin, Ryan, and Sean.
