For most students and staff , this was their fi rst visit to the building. “I was so excited the school took me up on my off er to visit,” said McGonagle. “When I visited their classroom earlier this year, I was blow away by the students and knew they would love to visit ‘the people’s house.’ Their intelligence and curiosity amaze me,” said McGonagle. The students and staff toured the building, including House Chambers, where they were able to sit in a Representative’s seat and learn about the House of Representatives. They heard from Representatives McGonagle, Garcia and Donato, who spoke about the history of the Chamber and how the work of the House aff ects all of them. They then went to the Senate Chambers, where State Senator Sal DiDomenico shared facts about the Senate and the duties of the Senate. The visit ended with a pizza party from Representative McGonagle. “Truly, this is what it is all about,” said McGonagle, “meeting these kids and inspiring them to dream big, to know they are capable of achieving anything they want. The teachers and staff of Pioneer Charter do a great job with these kids and I am just so grateful to have them in our community.
