The two had been locked in a tie for nearly one week after the second round of unofficial results was released on November 7. Ward 1 School Committee Member Allen Panarese picked up 10 votes in the final count, going from 2,218 votes to 2,228 votes to defeat challenger Edgar Ruiz, who finished with 1,416 votes.
