McGonagle delivers for Everett, securing $385,000 in the Commonwealth’s annual budget S tate Representative Joe McGonagle delivered big once again for the City of Everett by securing nearly $400,000 in the state budget for priorities in the community. The Rep’s earmarks include funding for the police and fire departments, children’s healthcare and apprenticeship programs. The six earmarks were line items in the over $63 billion budget signed by Governor Maura Healey this past summer. “I was thrilled to see the Governor sign the budget that is so generous to Everett,” said McGonagle. “These earmarks were carefully selected in collaboration with the City, the Mayor and community partners to address underserved needs and priorities in Everett. I need to thank my constituents who keep me informed on what the priorities of our city are. I am always grateful for the people of Everett who entrust me with the responsibility of being their State Representative and advocating for our community.” The Representative secured the following earmarks: ● $100,000 to the Joint Committee for Children’s Health Care in Everett, Inc. for increased staffing needs ● $100,000 to the Eliot Family Resource Center in Everett for the implementation of additional programming ● $100,000 to the City of Everett’s Youth Development and Enrichment Department for the workforce development and summer jobs program ● $35,000 to the Art Lab Everett to support Listening Works, a youth development and apprenticeship program ● $25,000 to the city’s police department for a drone unit ● $25,000 to the city’s fire department for active shooter training “Opening or growing a business comes with plenty of challenges. Navigating City processes shouldn’t have to be one of them. By hearing directly from our business owners, we can identify where improvements are needed and create resources that make a real diff erence.” To help guide the development of the toolkit, the City and MAPC are asking current Everett small business owners to complete an approximately 10-minute survey. The survey will gather feedback on their experiences navigating local requirements and identify opportunities to make City processes clearer and more accessible. The survey is open to current small business owners in Everett only and it is offered in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole. Please take the survey by going to https://cityofeverett. com/small-business/. Feedback collected through the survey will help the City and MAPC develop a toolkit that addresses common challenges, answers frequently asked questions and provides business owners with the information they need to navigate City processes with greater confidence. Everett is looking forward to reviewing the experiences shared by Everett small business owners and responding directly to their concerns with the toolkit. “We’re always trying to be more creative in ways to help our small businesses,” said Director of Planning and Development Matt Lattanzi. “We are proud of the work that we have already achieved with Electrify Everett and I’m excited for what’s to come.” Monogram D4 Double siding Cedar impression half rounds Harvey Vinyl Replacement Windows Custom Aluminum Trim work Windows & Doors Top quality Vinyl Siding! •Vinyl Siding •Carpentry Work •Decks •Fully Licensed •Fully Insured Everett Aluminum Supplies pp Celebrating 67 Years in Business Since 1958! ws FREE ICE CREAM
