With that type of off ensive output, DiLoreto praised his off ensive line of Kellyson Linhares, Guerlins Christalin, Omarian Ayala, Moises Interiano and James DeSouza for the team’s success in constantly moving the ball up and down the field. “They continue to play well as one unit that has enabled us to move the ball so successfully this year,” the coach added. Tyler Freni carried the ball 12 times for 98 yards. He also caught one pass from Walsh for 14 more yards. On defense, Armani Negron led the way with four solo tackles and eight more assisted tackles. Freni was next with two solos and seven assisted tackles. The Everett boys will be looking for their fifth win of the year, when they head to Lynn’s Manning Field to take on the Lynn English Bulldogs on Friday night, Oct. 16, at 5 p.m. “Lynn English (2-3) has another very good football team this year,” said DiLoreto. “They are very well-coached in all three phases of the game, and I’m also very impressed with their physicality. We need to practice hard and prepare very hard for this game. We know that they run the spread off ense with success, and they also run the ball very well on the ground. On defense, they mix up their fronts between odd and even, and so our linemen need to communicate with each other, so we can be up for those challenges that are presented to us. We know that we will need to play our very best on Friday night.” Tide girls soccer dominates both Lynn GBL teams A fter dropping a close 3-2 home encounter to Greater Boston League rival Malden under the lights at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Oct. 5, the Everett girls soccer team (8-2-2) got right back to winning with shutout victories over Lynn Classical (4-0, Oct. 6) and Lynn English (8-0, Oct. 9) to close out last week. The Golden Tornadoes scored fi rst, but the home team answered back about 15 minutes later to tie up the contest at one. Melany Arana crossed the ball to a waiting Johanna Flores, who fi red the shot into the back of the net. Sofi a Arana-Quintanilla netted the team’s second goal on a penalty kick. “Arana-Quintanilla is our best penalty kick and free kick specialist,” said coach Dom Persuitte, who also singled out Tiffany Aguilar and goalie Julianna Rivera for their eff orts in this game. It was a much diff erent story the next day at 7-Acres against the Rams. “This was a great bounceback win,” said Persuitte. “We’re beat up with injuries, but we’re still giving it our best.” Captain Sofi a Arana-Quintanilla, on a free kick from about 25 yards out, accounted for the fi rst goal of this game. Brianna Santos netted goal number two assisted by captain Kayla Andrade. Odilas Sandoval then dribbled through the Lynn Classical defense, before producing the third tally. Flores closed out the off ense in this game with a goal that mirrored Sandoval’s score, as she too dribbled through the Classical defense. “Overall, this was a good game,” said Persuitte. “We worked on moving the ball around to limit our touches, while focusing on quicker play. Both of our goalies – Julianna and Kaylin Rivera –earned another shutout for themselves.” Lynn English then followed its Classical neighbors to 7-Acres three days later, which featured more dominating results by the Tide. “It was good to see the girls move the ball around with precision and pace,” said Persuitte. Norma Chaves helped lead the attack with two goals, both of which were off defl ections. The Crimson Tide scored within the fi rst two minutes of the game, and never looked back throughout this 8-0 rout. Rosa Romero passed the ball to Brianna Santos, who accounted for one of those goals. Andrade then received a cross, before scrambling in the box that helped produce her goal. Santos chipped in with another marker after the ball defl ected off the Classical goalie. ConOffered at $599,000 Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate Formerly Carpenito Real Estate nie Paz Hernandez also came through with a goal, followed by Santos’ third tally for the hat trick. Mel Ribeiro gave her a crisp pass to collect an assist on that play. Everett scored its fi nal goal of the game thanks to Lynn English’s generosity, when the Bulldogs shot the ball into their own net. Goalies Julianna and Kaylin Rivera earned yet another shutout, their sixth overall this fall. “This was a great overall team effort by everyone,” said Persuitte. The coach also specifi - cally mentioned the play of Tiffany Aguilar, Sofi a Arana-Qunitanillia and Gissell Lemus, which helped make the team’s eighth win possible. This week, the Tide has already gone up against Somerville (Oct. 13) and Malden again (Oct. 15), this time on the road, after press deadline. They will return home next week to face non-league Lowell on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Stadium, starting at 7 p.m. Medford then comes to Rivergreen two days later at 4:15 p.m. Tide boys soccer drops heartbreaker to host Marblehead T he Tide boys soccer team (3-6-1) battled host Lynn Classical to a scoreless tie at Manning Feld in Lynn on Oct. 7, and two days later they traveled further down the Lynnway to Marblehead to play the nonleague host Magicians under the Friday night lights of Piper Field. The game turned out to be a back-and-forth battle, with the home team prevailing by one, 4-3. “We conceded a goal early on, when we got caught watching the ball,” said coach Rodney Landaverde. “We then held our own against them, and after a quick sub later on in the fi rst half, senior Whitney Pereira tied up the game on a goal from Cesar Rengifo.” The game was tied at one at halftime. “We were eager to start the second half, and as a result we came out pressing them aggressively,” said Landaverde. Rengifo set up the next goal after sending a far cross to the back post, where Daniel Henriquez was there to head it home to give his teammates the lead, 2-1. “We held the lead for another 10 minutes, before they countered with the tying goal,” said Landaverde. But the home team also scored the next two goals to take the lead for good. With fi ve minutes left on the clock, the Everett boys were still fighting to stay close on the scoreboard. Senior Pedro Nascimiento subbed-in, and quickly initiated a scoring opportunity on a through ball 30 yards away from the Marblehead net. Junior Saymon Coelho alertly pounced on the ball to trim the defi cit to one. But unfortunately for the Tide, that’s where the scoring ended. To say the least, it was a heartbreaking loss, but for Landaverde, he’s now looking forward to four upcoming Greater Boston League (GBL) matchups Home of the Week SAUGUS – 1st AD - Classic Colonial with Space, Character & Potential.
