THE EVERETT ADVOCATE – FRiDAy, SEpTEmbER 18, 2026 Page 3 Former Everett IT Director Charged in Connection with Using City Funds for Personal Purchases (Editor’s Note: This press release was released by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Offi ce) E VERETT – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Chief of Police Paul Strong have confirmed that Kevin Dorgan, 58 of Everett, has been charged with larceny over $1,200 in connection with allegedly using over $98,000 in taxpayer money, intended for the City’s Information Technology Department, for personal purchases. Kevin Dorgan was terminated from the City of Everett in March of 2026. Following his termination, the City conducted an inventory of the defendant’s offi ce and other spaces and observed them to filled with packages, several items were stacked in each office, and a large quantity of the packages were unopened. A preliminary review of purchases made by the defendant during his time as IT Director uncovered several purchases on the City’s Amazon business account that appeared to be fraudulent. These items appeared to be for personal use only such as electric razors, bedding and clothing items. Upon identifying these purchases investigators determined a full review of all purchases made by Dorgan should be conducted. The investigation subsequently revealed that between 2020 and 2026, among the thousands of items purchased using the City of Everett Amazon Account were over 700 items valued at over $98,000 sent to his home. Also, among the thousands, there were over 400 items that were identifi ed as having no link to his employment. These items were sent to both his home address and to his offi ce at Everett City Hall. Items purchased included video games, a Blu-ray DVD player and Apple AirPods. As a result of the investigation, last week, investigators executed a search warrant on a storage facility rented by the defendant and located hundreds of items matching those shown in the purchase records from the City of Everett Amazon account. Kevin Dorgan was arrested at his residence in Everett. He was arraigned Friday in Malden District Court. He was released on personal recognizance and is required to stay away from Everett City Hall and have no contact with any current or former City of Everett employees. This case is scheduled for pretrial conference on October 22, 2026. This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Everett Police. “WE’RE STILL HERE!” Since 1947 MALDEN AUTO BODY Book online: Maldenauto.com 49 Robin St., Everett, MA 617-389-3030 * Maldenab@yahoo.com Over 79 years of exceptional service!
