I know there has been some disruption, and this has been incredibly frustrating. I share that frustration. I believe in transparency and we will share information as soon as we can, but there is information we can’t release at this time that would compromise the investigation and security of our systems. I wish I could provide information on what happened and when every city system will be fully restarted, but this remains an active investigation. As I get more information, I will update the Council, our employees and the residents.” Van Campen added that essential city services were not disrupted and reported that, in lieu of working at City Hall, essential personnel were transferred to the Connolly Center, 90 Chelsea Street, for work. It was first reported that Everett wasn’t the only city that was under a cyberattack. Springfield Public Schools faced a data breach during a cyberattack. Coincidentally, both cities host a Class A casino. Whether there is a connection to the two incidents has yet to be determined.
