THE EVERETT ADVOCATE–Friday, August 30, 2019 Page 7 Joint Committee for Children’s Healthcare shares commitment for a brighter, healthier future for all O n Friday, October 25, the Joint Committee for Children’s Healthcare in Everett (JCCHCE) will be hosting a special gala event at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge to celebrate 25 years of assisting families and individuals with health insurance coverage. The JCCHCE has helped people in Everett and more than 70 other communities. The nonprofit organization will be joined by clients, parents, educators, health and wellness experts, health and civic organizations, community members and national, state and local leaders, funders, staff, volunteers and many more to celebrate the work that has been done, but also to inspire to strive for a brighter, healthier future for all. The JCCHCE has directly served and supported more than 225,000 people to gain access to Massachusetts health care. Below is a testimony from one individual who will forever be grateful for the work and commitment of the JCCHCE. “In November, 2016 our mother was found unresponsive at her home suffering from a medical event that caused her to experience hypoxia to her brain. The lack of oxygen to her brain has left her without the ability to walk, talk and all of the day-to-day functions we take for granted. “The harsh reality is that this “medical event” was caused by an overdose on drugs. As many of us know, addiction, depression and other mental health issues are not treated and it can be hard to find the right help. Our family, friends and maybe even you suffer every day with personal challenges without knowing the proper tools and resources to get the help you deserve. Our mother is fighting every day to learn life all over again & Doctors cannot predict the final outcome of her recovery because there are many uncertainties associated with brain injury. “I moved to Massachusetts from Florida with my 4 year old daughter to help care for my disabled mother. Life at the time was very challenging and the unknown was extremely scary. JCCHCE in the time of need was there to assist us in the disability application process. “My family and I are forever grateful and indebted to the JCCHCE and would love to express my gratitude. Please continue to support their mission and their outstanding and important assistance.” Together we have much to celebrate, and with your help and tax-exempt donation, we will be able to achieve so much more in the years to come! Twenty-five Years … and the Journey Continues … For more information about the Gala, please contact the JCCHCE at 617-394-2414 or by visiting 484 Broadway, Everett, Mass., Room 2.
