Page 12 THE EVERETT ADVOCATE – FRiDAy, July 31, 2026 Meet best-selling author Michael Blanding at the Parlin Library Join an evening discussion of ‘The Gospel According to Hobby lobby’ followed by a book signing Special to Th e Advocate T he Everett Public Libraries are pleased to welcome investigative journalist and best-selling author Michael Blanding on Wednesday, August 5, at 7 p.m. for a discussion of his latest book, “The Gospel According to Hobby Lobby.” Published in July 2026, “The Gospel According to Hobby Lobby” examines the pivotal role the Green family has played in funding and advancing America’s Christian nationalist movement. Blanding is the best-selling author of “The Map Thief” and “In Shakespeare’s Shadow” and is known for his investigative reporting and in-depth nonfi ction. The event will be held in the Parlin Memorial Library Meeting Room. Following the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book and have it signed by the author. Everett Chamber of Commerce announces spring and fall Banner Program T he Everett Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2026 Banner Program. This program has enabled businesses, nonprofi t organizations and elected offi cials to display their names on banners located along the streets of Everett. The program will allow organizations to purchase two personalized banners, one for spring (April through July) and one for fall (August through November). The deadline to order is August 10, 2026.
