Foreign Films – Le Concert Parlin Memorial Library Tuesday, July 9 at 6:30 p.m. Thirty years ago, Andrei Filipov, conductor of the Bolshoi orchestra, was fired for hiring Jewish musicians. Now a cleaning man at the Bolshoi, he learns that the Chatelet Theater in Paris has invited the Bolshoi orchestra to play. He gathers his former musicians to perform in Paris in the place of the current Bolshoi orchestra. For reasons not understood, he wants the young violinist virtuoso, Anne-Marie Jacquet, to be the accompanist. This wonderful film swings from broad farce and roughneck socio/political silliness to a deeply moving finale.
