Tocco noted the Master Plan which was already in place that allowed Encore to create its resort/casino in Everett which was necessary to obtain the Class A gambling license. “They created a platform for us to launch and launch fast,” stated Tocco. “Many believed that Suffolk Downs had it in the bag, saying they were planning things for 10 years, but they didn’t know that Everett was cooking a lot up for a lot of years.” Recalling Everett United’s campaign slogan, Tocco raised his glass and stated, “It’s our time.” Tocco stated that Encore has over 600 residents working at the resort, just over 2% of Everett’s workforce, with 800 positions still available. “Between Everett and Malden alone we have 1,000 people working at this facility,” said Tocco. Tocco thanked the Everett City Council as well as members who were in attendance.
