M City of Everett launches H.E.A.T. program Nine-week program will teach youth how to navigate through preventing substance use ayor Carlo DeMaria was pleased to announce that the City of Everett’s Youth Development and Enrichment Department is launching the Helping Everett’s Adolescents and Teens (H.E.A.T.) program. The nine-week course will teach youth aged 10 to 14 how to navigate through preventing substance use. They will have the opportunity to learn social and life skills that will focus on the areas that tend to be triggers for substance use. The course will cover a variety of topics, including how substances aff ect us, navigating through peer pressure and insecurity and fi nding ways to spend time on positive activities. In addition to learning, the program will feature games, food, prizes and more for all who participate. The program will begin on Wednesday, April 10, and continue every Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., until Wednesday, June 5, at the Everett Recreation Center (47 Elm St.).
