The proposal is for a 25,000seat soccer stadium and concert venue on a 43.1-acre parcel on Alford Street, across Lower Broadway from the Encore Boston Harbor and across the Mystic River from Charlestown. The site is presently home to a nonoperational power plant formerly operated by Constellation Energy that closed in 2020. Wynn Resorts eventually purchased the land for redevelopment. “We should be hearing from the people if they’re going to endure a project like this,” Ward 5 Councillor Robert Van Campen said at the City Council meeting Monday, March 10. “We should be hearing from people as to what they want to see in a CBA.” “It should be an open forum so residents have the opportunity to speak and ask questions,” stated Councillor-at-Large Katy Rogers. “The Boston City Council has been active in the process for a long time, but Everett, the host community, has not.
