Admittedly, July and August can be a bit pricey on the Island, but value-conscious travelers can find their perfect Vineyard getaway, no matter the season. T ravel affordably to the Island yearround on the Steamship Authority ferry departing fromWoods Hole multiple times a day, every day of the year. Round-trip tickets run under $20 per adult ticket. Seasonally, from late May to mid-October, the Island Queen ferry operates from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs and offers round-trip tickets for under $25. Both ferries offer discounts for senior citizens and kids. Parking at their lots the Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA), for under $10. VTA busses run all day, every day, can get you to key points of interest in every town on the Island. It’s clean, safe, and affordable – a perfect way to see all there is to enjoy on the Island. $ Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground. Located on the public bus route and bik path in Vineyard Haven, the Campground offers spacious wooded sites complete with picnic tables and firepits, and numerous sites include hookups to accommodate RVs. They also offer a number of cabin rentals, as well as restrooms, showers, a laundromat, store, recreation hall and playA A runs approximately $12-15 per day, depending on the season. $ O nce you arrive on the Island, take advantage of the best deal: the unlimited day pass on the Island’s public transit system, nother great way to see theVineyard is by bicycle. Bring your own (check the ferry website for cost) or rent a bike for the day and enjoy the 44 miles of paved, off-road trails. $ ccommodations vary by price point and by season. If you can travel in Autumn, Winter and Spring, you’ll find amazing deals at all sorts of lodging establishments. In the peak season of summer, some of the best deals can be found at the ground. The Campground is open May to October and rates begin at $62 per night. $ A nother reasonably priced option in summer is the HI Martha’s Vineyard Hostel. Located inWestTisbury, the hostel offers free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast, a shared guest kitchen, easy access to public transit and bike trails, and a large lawn.
