See the Calendar of activities in Lake Currents for more information. Summer Pony Camp: Pony Camp at the Equestrian Center is a fun hands-on learning experience for children in Lake of the Woods. We offer both a Beginner Camp and an Advanced Camp to accommodate children of all skill levels. Space is limited! Registration ends May 15, payment & application required. For more info visit www. Price: $300 Members / $350 Non-members Monday – Friday| 9 Sessions Available Weekly June 11 – July 6 and July 16 – August 17 Advanced Camp: For campers already enrolled in weekly riding lessons. Advanced campers must be able to walk/trot and canter. Price: $200 Members / $250 Non-members Monday – Friday | July 9 – 13 Junior Golf Camp: Junior Golf Camps are instructed by Lake of the Woods Golf Professional Rea Hargraves. All campers are eligible to attend the LOWA Junior Golf Championship /Junior Golf Tournament on Saturday July 21 at 1:30 PM. Space is limited. All Camps Ages 7 - 15 Beginner Camp: Golfers will learn putting, chipping, pitch shots, sand shots, irons and woods. Golfers will also be exposed to the rules of golf etiquette and pace of play. Participants will receive a golf shirt, a certificate of completion and attend a party at Sweetbriar Park on Friday afternoon. The first class will meet at the Pro Shop; all other class will be held at Sweetbriar Park. 9 AM – 10 AM | Monday-Friday | Price: $50 / Student (registration, payment and shirt size due by June 13) 3 Sessions Available | Limit 20 Campers per session June 25 – 29 | July 2 – 6 | July 16 – 20 (NEW!) Advanced Camp: This camp will work on various skills to help more advanced players improve. 9 AM – 10:30 AM | July 30 – August 2 | Monday-Friday | Limit 6 Kids | Price: $50 / Student (registration and payment due by July 25) LOWSC Junior Sailing Camp: Come learn to sail or improve your sailing skills with the LOW Sailing Club. This camp is offered in a safety conscious, confidence building, and fun environment. Registration: Sailing Camp application forms are available at the Holcomb Building or the Community Center. Submit completed applications with payment to LOWSC, PO Box 1114, Locust Grove, VA 22508. Checks payable to LOWSC. Camp slots will be filled in order of receipt. Location: Camp is held near the boat racks at Sailboat Beach Parent pick-up & drop-off required. Classes held rain or shine. Required Gear: Swimsuit, Coast Guard approved life jacket, a whistle, and sunscreen and closed-toe water shoes. Water bottles and snacks are highly recommended. All Camps Ages 8 & 15 | Must be able to swim. Beginner Camp: This session is for those who have completed two years or less of our camps. Monday – Friday | June 25 – 29 | Price: $190 Advanced Camp: This camp is for those with more experience. Monday – Friday | July 2 -6 | Price: $190 4 Soccer Camp: Orange Recreation Association is bringing the #1 Soccer Camp in both the US & Canada to Lake of the Woods this summer, British Soccer Camp! All Campers receive a free t-shirt, ball & poster. Register online before Friday, May 4 & receive a free replica jersey. Camps located in Sweetbriar Park. LOW Tennis Juniors: The Tennis Committee and LOWA are planning a series of Tennis Clinics for various age groups. “Drills and Games” for LOW Tennis Juniors will be held this summer break. The events will take place at Hollyfield Park, and will be overseen by players, volunteers and staff and led by the LOW Tennis Pro. Clinic time each day will be 9:30 - 11 AM, the 6-10 year olds will play July 30 & July 31. The 11- year olds and up will play August 1 & August 2. Both clinics will have open play August 3. For registration or more information, contact the Community Center staff at 540-972-9680. Tennis Lessons: Tennis lessons will be available this season from Brian Ratzlaff. Brian is a USTA certified Elite Professional with 25+ years of teaching experience. Lessons are currently available, by appointment, for private, semi-private or private groups; for first time players through advanced tournament players. Water Fitness: Water fitness classes are a high-energy, full body workout that is perfect for all fitness levels. Classes are designed so that participants can workout at their own pace. Each class is 45 minutes and starts with warm-up movements, followed by stretching, cardio and a strengthening component, followed by a cool down. Equipment provided. The cost of a season pass is $125 and the daily drop-in fee is $7. Registration will take place at 10:30 AM at the Sweetbriar Pool on Monday, June 11.
