State Senate President agrees to form a committee to support Cap and Invest in the next legislative session. The UMass – Boston Graduate Student Senate passes a resolution in support of 100% renewable energy on campus. The undergraduate Student Government, Graduate Student Senate, and Faculty Senate of UMass - Dartmouth pass resolutions in support of committing to 100% renewable energy by 2050. The Chancellor makes a verbal commitment shortly after. VICTORY! The University of California system agrees to transition to 100% renewable electricity purchasing by 2025 and Governor Brown commits California to 100% clean energy after sustained CALPIRG campaign which included 20,000 petitions from UC students, 8 student government resolutions, and dozens of lobby meetings.
