Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORR™) Driving is the most dangerous work activity that most people do. HSE Guidelines, “Driving at Work,” state that “health and safety law applies to work activities on the road in the same way as it does to all work activities and you need to manage the risks to drivers as part of your health and safety arrangements.” At RoSPA we started our now widely adopted MORR™ campaign in 1996. It is now an essential part of our country’s road safety strategies and many organisations employ its underlying principles as the basis for their fleet safety policies. In 2014, “A Strategic Review of the Management of Occupational Road Risk”, commissioned by RoSPA, found that while much progress has been made, almost 30% of road deaths and 25% of serious casualties still occur in crashes involving at least one at-work driver or rider. The need to manage occupational road risk is as great as ever. The main legal duties of MoRR™ are set out in: • The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 • The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 • Road Traffic Law • The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 • Health and Safety (Offences) Act 2008 How can RoSPA help? • Management Solutions Provide advice and information about your legal obligation to manage occupational road risk and how best to do so • Review, develop and implement your at-work road safety policies and procedures Motivate and reward your staff • • Reduce your accident levels and costs Driver Training Our courses are accredited by DVSA, JAUPT and OCR.
