Course Approval As one of the UK’s main providers of health and safety training courses, we can approve your existing training courses. We can also help you develop new courses. There are many benefits of getting your course approved by RoSPA. Once approved, courses can be delivered under the prestigious ‘RoSPA Approved Course’ banner, a powerful symbol of quality. The thorough review process that precedes approval gives you peace of mind that your courses have been independently assessed and deemed to embody best practice. How do you get a course approved? There are two routes to course approval. 1. Classroom based courses: This is a comprehensive service which covers the course materials and actual delivery of the course, and leads to ‘RoSPA Approved Course Delivery’. It combines a desktop review of your course syllabus and related materials in addition to on site observation of your trainer in action, providing you with the most thorough assessment of all aspects of your course and its delivery. 2. E-Learning: Reviews each element of the e-learngingexperience. Approval of your e-learning courses leads to ‘RoSPA Approved E-Learning Course’. Both routes include an approval report which will outline any areas for improvement. Course Approval is awarded at RoSPA’s discretion – some proposals for approval may not be considered. Course Approval is granted on an annual basis. Re-approval is not granted automatically and requires thorough checks of all materials. How can RoSPA help to develop a new course? As an alternative, you may be interested in RoSPA’s Occupational Safety and Health Course Development Service, whereby we design a course syllabus and craft the course materials to meet a particular training requirement within your organisation. Selected members of your organisation can then run the course to train other employees. We will deliver the initial course to the internal trainers and will then approve it on an ongoing annual basis. This is an extremely cost-effective training solution. It means that you do not have to compromise on the quality of your internal courses, despite limited budgets, awkward shift patterns and multiple locations. National Core Competence Benchmark Moving forward, all RoSPA approved courses will be eligible for free entrance on to Course Compare, as the aforementioned controls mean that by dint of being granted RoSPA Course Approval, courses will therefore also meet the standards required for entrance in the knowledge category. Course Compare is an independent, not-for-profit national database designed to improve transparency in the sector by facilitating informed training decisions. We support it as we believe it has the potential to help raise standards, and it’s also supported by a number of trade associations (BISCs, IPAF, Asset Skills, ECA, LEEA, SAFed, BCSA, FMA, PSMA, Hae and Aitt), who in turn promote it to their members. The potential for increased visibility means that hopefully you’ll consider free of charge eligibility for inclusion a useful benefit to our courses approval service.
