By: Jeff Schmidt with RLP Development President, Home Builders Association of Greater Southwest Illinois What is the Home Builders Association of Greater Southwest Illinois? A business that is a member of the HBA has taken an educated stand to be part of a professional trade organization to enhance their business in a positive path. A Home Builder Association (HBA) member demonstrates their commitment to the goals of the housing industry in this market. HBA is the only organization of its kind that is always working to assist their members with current information, education and support that will benefit the members business. HBA is also consumer focused, they use their role as a community leader to inform and educate the public in consumer protection, housing trends, life safety issues, new and innovative products and money-saving tips. These services are provided to consumers in a variety of ways; Spring and Fall Home Show, The Homes on Parade Event, various media (tv, radio, print and facebook), Resource Guide and their very informative website www.hbaswil.org. The HBA and its members actively support local community organizations. During the 2015 Home Shows the Community Interfaith Food Pantry, Faith Baptist Church Food Pantry and Collinsville Food Pantry received over 900 pounds of can goods and the donations were collected for the Violence Prevention Center which helped many families in need of simple daily supplies. The Remodelers Council helped renovate the Belleville Humane Society by patching and painting walls, fixing door frames, baseboard repairs and much more. The Professional Women in Building Metro East gave two $500 scholarships to young women furthering their education in the building industry, donations were made to Collinsville Area Vocational Center – Building Trades Dept., Partner for Pets, Cahokia Community Basket, coat drive for Cahokia Citizens Food Pantry and six children were adopted for Remodel With Confidence We specialize in: • Kitchen Remodeling • Room Additions • Basement Finishes • Bathroom Remodeling • Outdoor Living • and Much More Christmas from the Shiloh School District. When a business becomes a member with the local HBA they also become members of the Home Builders Association of Illinois (HBAI) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as well. When buying or building a house it is suggested that the buyer ask the builder, contractors and suppliers that are involved if they are a HBA member.
