On Saturday, July 28 from 10 am to 2 pm, the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) celebrates Colorado’s 142nd birthday. Discover local history and heritage with a day of food trucks, live music and family-friendly activities! Throughout the day guests are invited to enjoy food from Bison Brothers Food Truck, High Grade Foods, and the Springs Cupcake Truck. The family-friendly “Soda Garden” is back! Field House Brewing Company, Peaks n Pines and Cerberus Brewing Company are offering a variety of non-alcoholic craft sodas for families to sample. In addition, commemorate your family’s day at Colorado Grown at the Photo Love Bus, where visitors can create and preserve fun memories in a converted 1971 VW bus. From 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, CSPM proudly presents WireWood Station, named “Best Band in Colorado Springs” by Gazette reader’s for 2016, 2017 and 2018. Guests are invited to set-up blankets and lawn chairs on the west lawn of the museum to enjoy the free outdoor concert. At noon we’ll gather to sing “Happy Birthday!” to Colorado and enjoy cake! Community organizations will share their own contributions to local history and heritage. Stop by demonstration booths highlighting The Money Museum, PikeRide Bike Share, Piecing Partners Quilt Guild, Public Archaeology, and Colorado Vintage Baseball Association. Inside museum volunteers are leading free guided tours at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm. Our Junior Docent volunteers will share objects and activities at our Hands on History stations. There is lots for kids to do as well! Explore the Trade at Bent’s Fort children’s exhibit, challenge yourself with a scavenger hunt, make Colorado-themed crafts, get your face painted, and play historic games on the lawn.
