Ways to Give (cont.) Give! For the second consecutive year, CSPM is honored to be a member of the Give! class. Gifts can be made from November 1 – December 31, 2017 through the Give! campaign at: www.indygive.com/cspm Gifts of Stocks and Appreciated Securities CSPM can accept gifts of appreciated securities and stocks, offering you a tax advantaged donation. Long-term securities - The tax law permits a charitable deduction of the current full fair market value of the securities, up to 30% of adjusted gross income, with a five-year carry-over option. In addition, the securities are not subject to a tax on the capital gain and must have been held more than one year. Short-term securities - The Internal Revenue Service considers these securities ordinary income property and must be held less than one year. Thus, a charitable deduction may be taken only for the securities’ original cost. 70½ or Older and Own an IRA? If you are 70 1/2 or older, there is something you should know. Congress passed a law that lets you do something special with your IRA to reduce taxes, but you must act before December 31st. IRA rollovers allow you to avoid taxes when you transfer funds from your IRA directly. Transfer up to $100,000 this year to a qualified nonprofit, and your gift will count against your required distribution, reducing your income and taxes. Planned Giving Planned giving involves planning responsibly for the future and helping your favorite charity at the same time. Options include wills, bequests, life insurance, qualified retirement plans, real estate, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities among others, while offering opportunities to make a substantial impact and gain significant tax advantages. Become a Part of the Inaugural Clock Tower Society Clock Tower Society donors make three year (or longer) commitments of support at or above $1,000 annually. CSPM encourages individuals, corporations and foundations to consider making multi-year commitments to cultivate a deeper level of engagement to ensure that our community forever remains a place where active minds flourish. Receive invitations to special events, receptions, personal “behind the scenes” tours and exclusive access to local, regional, national and international trips with CSPM staff to gain a deeper connection to history and culture. For more information on how you can make a gift and be a vital part of CSPM’s success, please contact: Lance James, Development Director (719) 385-5633 or LJAMES@SPRINGSGOV.COM Disclaimer: Consult with your tax advisor to determine whether your donation is tax deductible in whole or in part.
