Vogler S augus Public School students will spend two days in the classroom and the other three days at home via remote learning when the 2020-21 academic school year begins in the fall. That is the unprecedented “hybrid” educational model recommended by School Superintendent Dr. David DeRuosi, Jr. and approved unanimously by the School Committee on Tuesday night. “Hybrid learning is a blend of both in-person learning and remote learning for the students,” DeRuosi wrote in his 18-page school reopening plan. “Students would attend in-person classes for part of the school week, and learn remotely for the remainder of the time,” he said. The learning model recommended by the superintendent attempts to balance the educational needs of students at all grade levels while minimizing potential health risks that students, teachers and staff would face with the potential spread of COVID-19.
